I just received the bad news that Noah Lowry will be starting the season on the Disabled list. I also drafted Alex Rodriguez in a fantasy league because I forgot about the injury, so there are worse things that could have happened.
But Lowry down is still quite disappointing. The giants are now 15-14 for the preseason with just a handful of games left. Get ready everybody because I am not sure if I mentioned that there is only 13 days until opening day.

TV debut
In their first televised spring training game yesterday, the Giants, for lack of a better phrase, stunk it up. The team was downed by the Kansas City Royals 11-3, and it wasn’t even as close as the score. But just remember it’s only spring training.
Well at least that’s what I keep telling myself. Buster Posey looked pretty solid behind the plate. I really like his future and I hope the Giants don’t trade him away.
And it was nice to see Brian Wilson on the mound showing off his change-up. Yeah that’s right I said change-up. I like to see him trying to get more pitches and improve, even after the All-Star season he had last year.

Tim Lincecum pitched two and one third innings yesterday, recording 5 strikeouts and no runs against Japan. And a good start as well for Edgar Renteria who got his first homer this spring.
The Giants led 4-0 after five innings behind Lincecum but the Japan team rallied in the later innings to take the game 6-4. This is an instance where the result was a loss, but the Giants took major strides.

Notes for the day
So the Giants are now 4-6 in their first ten spring training games. Not bad. Tim Lincecum hasn’t allowed a run yet this postseason. Impressive.
Dave Roberts career in San Francisco is over, and I can’t figure out if that is a good thing or a bad thing. He was very productive in the last few years… when he wasn’t out with an injury. I’m going to say his departure is a good thing.
Randy Winn has been struggling mightily so far this spring training. He should snap out of it though.

Lincecum looks good again
Through 5 games this preseason there are already striking similarities to last season. So far the Giants are 2-0 when Lincecum pitches and 0-3 when he doesn’t.
The Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers today 5-2, halting their three game skid.
