2nd game not so sweet

The second game of the Giants spring training resulted in their first loss Friday. But despite giving up 16 runs, there were a few positives.
Travis Ishikawa had another solid game with an RBI double. While Aaron Rowand got in the mix with his first homer so far in Arizona.
Matt Cain gave up a bomb in the first, but was reported to have looked good otherwise.
Not that it’s that important, but Manny Ramirez has reportedly declined the recent 2 year 45 million dollar contract offered by the Dodgers.
Basically I don’t see any way the Giants will get him now. There is no way the Giants will offer him anything close to that. The sooner I accept that the better.

Day one in the Books...

Well it was a heck of a start for the G-men today. Game ball goes to Travis Ishikawa for belting two, yes I said two, home runs in the Giants 10-7 victory over the Indians.
It’s great to see Ishikawa playing well this early; I just hope it will last. Tim Lincecum went three scoreless innings.
He would have won the game ball but three scoreless innings is, I hate to say it, almost the norm for him. So he just gets an atta kid and a pat on the back.
Nate Schierholtz also homered in the game. It appears early the Giants have some offense. But this is spring training, so don’t get too giddy yet.

Let the Games begin!

We are now just hours away from the giants first spring training game. Unfortunately I will not be going this year, so those that are I encourage you to gloat about how much fun you are having.
The Giants will face off against the Cleveland Indians tomorrow with Tim Lincecum on the mound. He likely will not pitch too long in my estimation, but I’m sure he will go at least a couple innings.
Bruce Bochy told reporters he plans to play Pablo Sandoval as much as possible this spring training, to see if he can handle third base. Kudos Bochy. Just don’t wear him out please.
My question is who will be the next Freddie Lewis? Pablo Sandoval? Who will emerge from the minors as a legitimate ballplayer? Hopefully we will find out sooner than later.

Early spring training storylines

Edgar Renteria appears to be taking his two year $18 million seriously. http://www.sfgiants.com/ reports Renteria showed up in Arizona 10 pounds lighter than last season. Hopefully this will bring him back to his old 5 time all-star self.
Noah Lowry also is making news in Arizona; he will be fighting with Jonathan Sanchez for the final spot in the rotation it appears. Rumors are around that both pitchers may be on the trading block in the near future. This should provide some serious competition in the rotation, which can’t hurt.

Giants off-season quietly going well

This an opportunity to generate new ideas by debating and squaking about old ideas.

My challenge is I am a huge baseball fan. The season doesn't start for another two months.

This is a problem for me because I keep thinking about upcoming baseball season so it is taking way too long to get here.

Manny Ramirez still on the market? Wow. I hope the Giants get him. Who cares if he is a pain in the ass.

The guy can flat out hit. As much as I respect and appreciate Omar Visquel, I think it was time for him to go.

His defense is second to none, but his bat definitely hurt the Giants throughout the season.

And Edgar Renteria is respectable.

I can't wait to see Pablo Sandovar next season. Hopefully he can be consistent throughout the year because he is a beast. Go Giants.
